memory and moment
The pieces of your memory can and are rearranged on a constant basis to validate an imagined construction of whom you believe yourself to be and what you imagine yourself capable of. Understanding this can afford freedom and peace.

the letter E)
many memories of my past come to me in black and white
yet the memories of certain teachers persist in color
it is these people and places
which form lines
which the axis of my being rotates
animals around town
a sea of asphalt and concrete
black at night
mist flowing through the air
rubber on the ground
pumping up and down
wind breath wind breath
it is subtle, yet its here
all around & in the ground
(hummingbirds, skunks, rabbits, june bugs, bobcat, shaggy parasol mushrooms)

intention and attention
thoughts are things
like bubbles in a stream
rising and passing with time
they are not you...
actions are movements
within the physical flow
always happening
they are not you...
intention and attention
powerful in their simplicity
time periods (link)
It is an interesting exercise thinking of time periods. Thinking of time periods I begin to search for physical and mental artifacts that delineate one from another.
For instance one time period could be identified as "before space exploration" and "after space exploration". Once human beings left the thin atmosphere of earth and voyaged ever so slightly into the cosmic ocean the human experience was altered. From the pictures of earth as viewed from space to landing human beings on our satellite the moon mankind's perception of possibilities and place were restructured.
It does not seem that most have had the realization that they are in fact themselves living in a time period. As a result of living in "their" time period they accept certain ideas and actions rarity questioning importance, validity, etc...
Our aspirations are in many instances not truly our own. Yet inherited from the particular time periods that we exist within.

The Experience and Perception of Time
First published Mon Aug 28, 2000; substantive revision Tue Nov 17, 2009
We see colours, hear sounds and feel textures. Some aspects of the world, it seems, are perceived through a particular sense. Others, like shape, are perceived through more than one sense. But what sense or senses do we use when perceiving time? It is certainly not associated with one particular sense. In fact, it seems odd to say that we see, hear or touch time passing. And indeed, even if all our senses were prevented from functioning for a while, we could still notice the passing of time through the changing pattern of our thought. Perhaps, then, we have a special faculty, distinct from the five senses, for detecting time. Or perhaps, as seems more likely, we notice time through perception of other things. But how?
time
Time is a non-spatial continuum in which events appear to occur in apparently irreversible order.
